Women have their own needs for clothing and women's sports clothing is no exception. There is a wide variety of styles for the various sporting activities such as dance, running, swimming, hiking, skiing, Pilate's, tennis and on and on.
Sports clothing can be very functional for the activity one is doing but at the same time it can be just as much a fashion show as any other activity such as going out to dinner or going to a social gathering or party.
On the functional side there are items which absorb and wick sweat away from the body and these are ideal in cold water so you don't get wet clothing and then when you stop you freeze. Different sports require different ranges of motion and the clothing is designed to allow movement and not to restrict motion.
Then there is just keeping up with the latest fashion. In the early 1900s for sports like golf and tennis, women wore long skirts and tailored blouses. They also had to wear hats. It is surprising that they could even walk not to mention play golf or tennis. It was a big shock when 1922 the first short skirt and no hat was worn on the tennis court. Perhaps the men felt that if the women could move toward the ball they would be a threat and too much competition.
By 1936 slacks started to be seen for general casual wear. By the mid 40s synthetic fabrics began to enter the scene and pullovers were seen. The 50s were into nylons and the 60s you started to see more colors coming on the scene with cotton sweat shirts and nylon track suits. Tennis gear although changing marked over the years still had to be white.
From then on more and more color entered the scene and more and more technology entered into the clothing and sports gear.
To find the women's sports clothing to suit your needs there are usually outlet stores in any town or city where there are major malls. What could be easier though than getting on the internet and searching for specifically what you need and want. There are sports bras from below $ 10 to above $ 80, fitness pants, shorts, hats, gloves, turtlenecks, sweaters, tights, swimsuits, running suits, rain gear, basketball, tennis, soccer, etc, etc, you name it in all colors and sizes in all price ranges.
It is also possible to do sports wear shopping on Ebay. Perhaps they may be used items, but if you are on a budget you may be able to find something you are looking for at an affordable price. There are just so many items sold on Ebay, that if you are willing to hunt for what you are looking for you may be rewarded.
